Human Resource Development

  • Organized an exposure visit of a ten member team of Government Officials to WaSMO Gujarat, to familiarize them with the procedures of implementing and management of community based drinking water supply schemes.
  • State level Orientation workshops to strengthen the implementation of NRDW Programme are held for senior level offices of Departments/ Agencies working in the Water Sector.

Information, Communication & Education

  • A Stall at “Special Public Information Campaign” of a Flagship Programme of Drinking Water & Sanitation Programme of Government of India was set up at Raebareli, U.P. to disseminate information regarding National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP).
  • Development, design & printing of leaflets, posters, booklets, folders, pamphlets, wall writing, banners, audio-video materials etc. has been planned for dissemination of information to the water user groups throughout the State.
  • Installation of Retro Reflective Boards have been planned to make the community aware of the water quality issues and activity carried out under NRDWP.
  • Mass awareness campaign in Arsenic affected habitations has been proposed in the year 2011-12.


  • GPS mapping will be carried out of all the public water sources to access the exact coverage status and identification of quality affected sources. GPS Mapping will help in preparation of water security plan and strategy to mitigate the water quality problems.

Monitoring & Investigation

  • Third party evaluation study has been planned for assessment of present infrastructure and its effectiveness in providing safe and potable water at habitation level, effectiveness of IEC and HRD activities, progress and process monitoring of water supply schemes and quality assurance as per Notice Inviting Tender (NIT).

National Rural Drinking Water Quality Monitoring Programme

  • Under the National Rural Drinking Water Quality Monitoring Programme, the establishment and strengthening of State, District and Sub-division laboratories is being carried out in terms of Building, Equipments and Man power.

Additional Structure of WSSO

  • District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) at District level and Block Resource Centre (BRC) at each Block level are being established for effective implementation of NRDWP.
